Overview of Committees
By-Laws/Policies & Procedures:
Meet once a year to review the current policies and procedures. The Committee will recommend to the full Board at the next scheduled meeting any changes or additions. The committee will also be called to meet whenever the full Board feels a decision is warranted.
Conference:
The Committee will assist the Conference Coordinator/s in preparing for the yearly conference. They will meet periodically as deemed necessary by the Coordinator to ensure that all aspects of the event are completed. It is also expected that members of the Committee attend the conference and assist with the set-up before the conference begins and clean-up at the end of the last day. The Conference Coordinator will report back on progress of the planning to the full board at each meeting.
Finance:
The Finance Committee is to meet a minimum of two times per year. One meeting is to conduct an independent audit and review the books reporting to the Board at the next scheduled meeting. The second meeting will be to prepare the budget which will be presented to the full Board during the November meeting. The Finance Committee may be called to meet whenever the full Board feels action is necessary.
Legislative:
The Legislative Committee is the liaison between legislative issues in the state/federal government and WCCAA. They will meet as needed to review current legislative issues. They shall be responsible for the advocacy and liaison relationships with local, state and federal legislative and regulatory bodies in ference to the provisions of quality child care services.
Marketing/Membership:
The Membership/Marketing Committee is responsible for promoting and developing public relations materials for WCCAA. They will keep membership brochures and send them to Board members as needed. They will assist Delegates/Alternates in regional development and training. The committee will meet throughout the year and bring ideas to the Board to increase our membership through marketing the benefits of being a WCCAA member. With the assistance of the Independent Consultant they will provide a current copy of the membership list to Board members at meetings.
Nominating:
The Committee will distribute nomination forms for open Executive Committee positions to all members in October, with nominations being made in November. Recommendations for these positions can be made by any member of WCCAA. They will distribute information about each candidate prior to the vote which will be done at the January board meeting by written ballot.
Professional Development:
Ad-Hoc: Accreditation; Education/Training; Licensing; Recognition; Scholarship
The Committee works on the various aspects of professional development keeping the board informed of changes in those areas so that we can inform our members. They help plan regional trainings and education if needed. This committee is also responsible for collecting applications for and awarding our scholarships and recognition awards.
